I explore male sexuality and identity through a various array of mediums from painting/drawing, video/photography and installation. I try to evoke questioning within the viewer to make them aware of situations, which may be alien to them, allowing them to see it from a different perspective.
At present my work is influenced by sexual politics, domestic objects and the [gay] male gaze within a rural community. I am researching the impacts in institutional and domestic transitional spaces from boyhood to manhood; questioning the influences of family, society, sexuality, and gender consumerism while looking at my own childhood development and transition of what it is to be a man? Are contemporary men repressive or empowering of or by the tradition of masculinity?
