Fragmented Coalesce, 2015
Fragmented Coalesce explores themes of identity and relationship to place through an unfolding, process-based work, dependent on each of the two artists participating in ‘cross residencies’. Each of us selected three sites within our current residing location with which we have an embodied spatial connection, and invited the other to engage in a ‘performative conversation’ in response to the landscape, materials, space, and each other.
Fragmented Coalesce is a site specific, collaborative video performance with Rachel Kendrigan created for the Mildura Palimpsest Biennale #10. We worked across two sites (Mildura and Hobart) exploring themes of identity and relationship to place, engaging in a ‘performative conversation’ in response to landscape, materials, space, and each other.
Thank you to all who donated to our Pozible campaign! Thanks to you and the Art Tasmania Crowbar program, Fragmented Coalesce was 111% funded!

In June 2015 the Hobart residency took place. Here we worked with local photographer/cameraman Matthew Newton to capture site specific performative responses to three sites chosen by Rachel- Mount Wellington, Cascade Female Factory and Seven Mile Beach.
We presented a night projection at Penny Contemporary Gallery, Hobart. This work was an experimentation of layering footage from chosen sights with some movement based responses. A rendition of Fragmented Coalesce will be shown at Penny Contemporary Gallery, Hobart, in March 2016.
Rachel visited Mildura in August to participate in the second cross residency. Here we worked with local photographer/cameraman Rob Klarich to capture site specific performative responses to three sites chosen by Rohan- Lamberts Swamp Salt Lake, Perry Sandhills in Wentworth, and the Psyche Pumps at Kings Billabong.
